Portugal: Celebrating our Ancestors Memorial
By FFWPU Portugal, Sérgio Neto: In Portugal, we have a tradition of honoring deceased family members each year on November 1st and 2nd, respectively “Day of All Saints” and “Day of the Dead.” Some people are doing this through church services and others mainly visiting cemeteries to place flowers on their ancestors’ graves.
Years ago, our church decided to adopt this kind of celebration, with an offering table with photos of our ancestors and offering food.
This year we had the privilege of celebrating our “Ancestors Memorial” with our Especial Emissaries, Rev. and Mrs. No Hi Park & Lan Young Moon, who are sent by True Parents to Europe, visiting our nation Portugal.
They joined the event and presented a deep and revitalizing providential testimonies that indeed enlightened all the members. And at the end we shared a splendid lunch time with all the blessed families.
Later our Especial Emissaries’ couple visited some families’ house and also our church center in Porto and deliver blessed message from our beloved True Parents. Portuguese Families are so happy and grateful for this unique occasion.
