International Day of Peace 2015 in Taiwan
UPF Greater China: The International Day of Peace ~ Cross-Strait Peace Forum was held in Taiwan organized by UPF-Greater China region on September 19-20, 2015. Representatives from the Greater China region including the mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan were invited to participate in the forum, making it a significant step in history! Main organizers also invited other organizations to co-organize the forum, by their joint efforts from those who have been devoted to the peace of cross-strait, making it a successful forum, and in total there were 165 people attended the forum.
Following the start of the forum, the Chairman of UPF-Chinese Region Rev. Kuei Soung Chang presented welcome remarks, and the President of Control Yuan Dr. Po Ya Chang gave a speech on behalf of distinguished guests; then, the Director of Economics Dept. of the Straits Exchange Foundation (SEF) Deng Dai Xian gave a keynote speech.
The forum was decided to be held on the day before the International Day of Peace and in line with this year’s theme the United Nations promotes, “Partnerships for Peace – Dignity for All” as its core, which well interprets the need the current cross-strait status requires. The 2-day forum is divided into 3 sessions: Including “Cross-Strait Consensus and Sustainable Peace” focus on political issues, “Cross-Strait Economic Cooperation and the Prospects of East Asian Community” focus on economic issues, and “Cultural Identity and Religious Harmony” focus on cultural issues.
