Australian Leadership Conference
UPF Australia: A one-day Australian Leadership Conference was held at the Oceania Peace Embassy in Sydney on Saturday 11 July 2015 with the theme, “Principle Driven Leadership: How to Resolve the Critical Issues of our Time”. Some 40 Ambassadors for Peace and supporters of Universal Peace Federation (UPF) Australia attended this friendly and informative Conference.
The MC, Jynene Helland, introduced Hon David Clarke, a member of the New South Wales Legislative Council and long-time passionate UPF supporter, who addressed the gathering. He outlined some of the challenges of this time, and introduced UPF as the most capable organisation worldwide to act on issues through its substantial interfaith peace network and activities.
There were two presentations before lunch: “A Vision for Peace: One Family Under God”, “Understanding the Root Cause of Conflict” and “The Universal Principles of Peace”, both delivered by Greg Stone, Secretary-General of UPF Oceania and President of UPF Australia. Following a delicious buffet lunch, the final presentation was given by Natascha Schellen, Coordinator of the Oceania Leadership Team (that comprises young adults from several nations). After each presentation, there were table discussions based on pre-set questions, with a representative reporting from each table to all at the end of each session. The Conference concluded with attendees being presented with graduation certificates.
This Conference was a great opportunity for Ambassadors for Peace and others attending to gain a greater insight into the underlying ethos and activity of UPF.
