Peace Road 2015 in Nigeria
FFWPU Nigeria: On June 10, Nigeria held the Peace Road launching at Karu Local Government Council Secretariat and around 130 people, including members of FFWPU, UPF, WFWP, YFWP participated.
Rev. George M. Ogurie, president of FFWPU-Nigeria, gave a lecture on the significance of the International Peace Highway as a legacy of the True Parents. He said the Peace Road 2015 rally was to celebrate the third anniversary of True Father’s ascension.
Referring to Nigeria’s Peace Road slogan, “Nigeria Stands in Peace,” he said that this Peace Road event is an opportunity to celebrate the fact that Nigeria still stand together as a nation despite the possibility of disintegration from the recent elections.
He then continue saying this event is also an opportunity to celebrate the fact that we still stand together as a nation despite the possibility of disintegration from the recent elections. He called on all Nigerians to support wholeheartedly the new government so that it succeeds. He also called on the Nigerian government to connect to the International Peace Highway project by quickly upgrading its road infrastructure to international standards.
Along the way, the 70 participants stopped at the palace of the traditional ruler of Karu. The district head, Hakimi of Karu and other palace officials addressed participants. Hakimi called on road users, especially commercial motorcyclists, to exercise peaceful conduct on the road in order to minimize accidents and loss of lives on the road.
