Asian Leadership Conference: “The Role of Asian Nations for 21st Century Global Peace”
Asian Leadership Conference held in Bangkok, Thailand on June 25 – 29, 2015
UPF Asia: Participants came to learn. They were serious even before arriving in Thailand because they sacrificed both valuable time from their busy schedules and financial resources to attend a very special 5-day Asian Leadership Conference (ALC) in Bangkok, June 25-29. Delegates paid travel expenses as well as a registration fee (which covered food and accommodations) themselves,
Although small, this seminar was unique and focused—we had 21 participants from four nations who attended, 16 were from Malaysia. Other countries included: Vietnam (3), Pakistan (1) and Thailand (1).
The educational content concentrated on teaching the Principles of Peace of Father Moon. Dancing and singing by the participants added an element of cheerfulness to a sincere educational conference.
Participants cried during the two special lecturers given by Dr. Yong Chung-sik, the Regional President of Asia. One participant called his presentations, “Simply amazing.”
Dr. Lek Thaveetermsakul, Regional Vice-President of UPF-Asia, welcomed the guests and encouraged them to study hard. Dr. Robert Kittel, Director of Education for UPF-Asia, along with Mrs. Ursula McLackland, Secretary-General for UPF-Asia, were the main presenters. The emcee was Mr. Yutaka Yamada, the National Leader in Malaysia.
As always, the Thai staff was gracious, serving and competent. They were professional in every aspect.
Participant reflections were heartfelt. Especially revealing were the numerous suggestions that we conduct many more such programs.
