The Omaha class focused not just on abstinence education, but on creating a personal relationship with God and others, and in exploring the Unification faith. By starting on that foundation, the participants were able to experience the joy of being able to live their lives with God and True Parents.
The group met each week for an hour before church service and would spend the time discussing topics including, “what it means to be God’s Son or Daughter?” “What is God’s expectation for our lives?” and “Why is abstinence before marriage and fidelity within so important?” Through reading about and discussing the topics, the students were able to relate Divine Principle to their daily lives.
The graduation ceremony was a celebration of the journey that Aly and Joey had gone through to make a commitment to God, the community, and their families. The community was able to witness their commitment, and understand the responsibility they had as a community of faith for these young people. “Ultimately the journey is not just Joey and Aly’s alone but it is the cumulative effort of all of us,” said one of the organizers of the program. The Omaha community is proud and excited to offer their support to these recent graduates as they go on to take their next steps.
